“I hope the order will be issued by this month,” Muhith told reporters at his secretariat yesterday. The new pay scale was made effective from July.
The salaries for December, which the employees will draw in January, will be as per the new pay scale, Muhith said.

Asked if the arrears will be paid at the same time, he said it depends on the accounts officer of the concerned agency, department or ministry.
If they can prepare the bill by fixing the salary by that time, the payment and the arrears will be given together. Otherwise, it may take some time to pay the arrears.
The new pay scale will be effective July 1 this year.
The endorsed pay scale will include new year allowance, 20 percent of basic pay, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting held at Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
All types of allowances outside the basic salary will be given from 2017.
Also, without delay the pay scale will be effective for MPO enlisted teachers with retrospective effect from July 1, the cabinet secretary said.
The eighth Pay and Services Commission on May 13 submitted its recommendation for public servants with a minimum basic salary of Tk 8,250 and a maximum of Tk 75,000.
December 31 last year, the eighth pay commission, led by Mohammed Farashuddin, filed its report suggesting doubling the basic pay for civil servants with a minimum pay of 8,200 and maximum 80,000.
The commission’s report said, for full implementation of its recommendations, the government will need Tk 22,953 crore in addition to the budgetary allocations of Tk 36,017 crore in the current fiscal year.
